WHY TO VISIT BARBADOS

Barbados is the most prosperous and most British island of the Caribbean.
A luxury tourist destination, it also offers visitors a diversity of sporting activities as well as many interesting places to visit.

Bridgetown, the capital and only big town on the island, manages to combine modernism and history with colonial houses in Broad Street, the historic Carénage quarter, the statue of Nelson, the cathedral and its neo-gothic buildings from the 19th Century.
You could visit the Barbados Wildlife Reserve, an animal park with various animals at liberty including monkeys, iguanas, turtles and caimans.

The marine Reserve at Folkstone is very popular with divers, with or without a bottle; fish, corals and sea anemones abound in a spectacular display.

Various museums may prove of interest if you would like to discover some local history, these include the Barbados Museum and Historical Society, which traces local history, and the Sunbury Plantation House, itself an old colonial house, 300 years old, which follows the daily life of a sugar cane plantation.

Various markets around the island provide the perfect place to see and learn about some of the island’s colourful and aromatic fruit, vegetables, spices and fish.

Some of the happiest visitors here though are the sports fans: Barbados has just about everything! Aquatic sports of course with everything from surfing to jet skis to diving, but also land sports including polo, cricket and golf.

A fairly small island in the Caribbean, Barbados benefits from a typically tropical climate with two well defined seasons: The dry season which runs from November to May and the rainy season from June to October.
