Craco, the ghost town of Matera province

Stands tall in yellow ocher land of Basilicata, with its houses climbing the rock.

But the village of Craco, in the province of Matera, is completely uninhabited due to landslides that in 1963 forced its inhabitants move in the valley. The medieval village surrounded by gullies - rock formations typical for this area - was the set of masterpieces ranging from "The Gospel According to St. Matthew" by Pier Paolo Pasolini, to "Passion" by Mel Gibson. These aerial images taken with a drone tell all the magic of this enchanted place.
