The Kastellet is a military fortification dating back to the 16th century, one of Europe’s best-preserved star-shaped fortresses (those built to withstand gunfire).
Even today, some of its buildings are used by the Danish military. But since the Danes have changed their nature, Kastellet has become one of the most popular public parks in Copenhagen.
Walk in the paths of the citadel or hop on the fortified ramparts to look at the sea, has become normal for the residents, who come here to relax. Besides relaxation, tourists have the opportunity to take some pictures to the ramparts, the characteristic red barracks, or the only mill built inside.
Not to mention that the Kastellet, is not far from the Little Mermaid.
