The Kilauea volcano is found on Big Island, Hawaii, and is consistently ranked by geologists as the world’s most active volcano. It contains more than two dozen craters and has been in a constant state of eruption since 1983 (that’s over 30 years!). At its most active, Kilauea’s spewing lava has led to the evacuation of area subdivisions and the destruction of both forests and neighborhoods. In fact, as recently as May 2018 this volcano has been spewing lava and filling the sky with ash, causing residents to flee the expanding lava fields.
