The world’s strongest gust of wind (not related to tornadoes, that is) was recorded on Barrow Island, Australia, at an amazing 253 miles per hour. The wind gust occurred in 1996 during Tropical Cyclone Olivia. And no, there was no one at the weather station that recorded the wind gust. Luckily, it was automatically recorded.
